Are we white? Are we not?



Here I am, evidently not white!
Hey, guys!!! Sorry for the long absence!!! I just found out something incredible and I had to share it with you!!!

I just learned, that we, Greeks, are considered to be non-whites!!!! I mean, I haven't enjoyed such amusing conversation-threads in the various social media in years!!! I was literally amused to tears!!

Ain't it extraordinary to spend your whole life believing one thing, as in being 100% certain about it, only to find out one day, that the rest of the world sees things completely differently??

They say, and swear upon it, and bring arguments forward that we are not white!! And to think that I've always been so white, that I've been called "Snowwhite" since infancy. Well, what are you gonna do? I personally find it immensely exciting to be perceived as brown, or black or something like that. I've always despised it inside me, belonging to the class of the mighty, white, ferocious, cruel whites!

What an honour, to be considered one and the same as all my dark-skinned brothers!!!! I thank the evidently impolite and uneducated people who contributed this idea to the internet race-analyzing forums, for helping me think out of the box.

There's always one thing, however, I always wonder at!! There's people who actually give huge thought, and dedicate great amounts of their time to determine the various characteristics and virtues or flaws of the Greeks! I feel I must take that as a compliment, because I've always been too self-occupied to start contemplating on similar issues about other people/races.

Anyway, I want to thank all the people who place Greece so highly among their priorities, and I really want to apologize to them for causing them agony and disgust, since they are so evidently tormented by the endless things we do wrong. Believe me, it is unconsciously done and the harm is unintended.

Hope I've given you some nice food for thought.

Special greetings to our oldest and best friends, the Turks, who passionately declare that we are gypsies!! How fascinating is that?? I've always liked the gypsies very much!!!

The most cruel literary crime - Jo kept apart from Laurie

I was intent on finishing little women as fast as I could. So inspiring, so well written I found it, "at last", I cried, a beautiful story of a beautiful family, that doesn't have everybody desperate, dead, murdered and struck endlessly by hard fate. And then the proposal scene came and I sensed that the long expected marriage might not come to be. I put the book down and immediately googled "Jo and Laurie wedding". It was a spoiler alright, but I just had to know, I had to make sure that it was just a misunderstanding, a peppery introduction into a magnificent happy end. Alas! I was wrong! Jo truly, irrevocably turned Laurie down. Do you want to know how I feel about it? For starters, I am not going to finish this darn book, as a protest. I refuse to read what comes next, for if I don't, it never happened. The characters are a product of fiction and they can have a different ending in my head if I don't keep reading the detested pages that follow. Ne...

The Mystery of the Golden Button

An amazing short-read book saw the light of day only a few days ago and it is the first "serious" work of young doctor and author or author and doctor (she hasn't decided yet), Aikaterini Tsentemeidou....aaand that would be me, so I'll just quit the scizophrenic third person and start speaking about myself . I'm guessing all of you aspiring authors out there and generally all of you out there are more or less familiar with the amazing and endless kindness of the publishing world, which overwhelmes us with choices and opportunities. I need to share with you, that I faced the exact same problem, not long ago, as the time came to get my "child" of a book published.  I just couldn't decide!! And just because I am very sensitive and couldn't hurt anybody  (I mean publisher) by turning them down, I resorted to publishing the book myself on amazon, fair and square. Have you ever heard of Lemnos?

It's an island in the Aegean sea, are you familiar with it? Funnily enough, this question is not only meant for foreigners but for Greeks as well. It turns out nobody knows enough about Lemnos, except for those who come from this island or have had to spend some time there at some point in their lives (that would mostly be people who work in the army, doctors and teachers). For the newcomer, Lemnos sounds like a bore; a bare, yellow island with a lot of steep rocks and dark-skinned people who talk little and smile enigmatically. There's a rumor that the islanders more or less insidiously sabotage their own land against tourists and new inhabitants. I could find one very good reason for that: Lemnos is too good to be shared with others. If I were to describe its form, I would say that it strongly reminds me of Dartmoor.
