The most cruel literary crime - Jo kept apart from Laurie

I was intent on finishing little women as fast as I could. So inspiring, so well written I found it, "at last", I cried, a beautiful story of a beautiful family, that doesn't have everybody desperate, dead, murdered and struck endlessly by hard fate. And then the proposal scene came and I sensed that the long expected marriage might not come to be. I put the book down and immediately googled "Jo and Laurie wedding". It was a spoiler alright, but I just had to know, I had to make sure that it was just a misunderstanding, a peppery introduction into a magnificent happy end. Alas! I was wrong! Jo truly, irrevocably turned Laurie down. Do you want to know how I feel about it? For starters, I am not going to finish this darn book, as a protest. I refuse to read what comes next, for if I don't, it never happened. The characters are a product of fiction and they can have a different ending in my head if I don't keep reading the detested pages that follow. Ne...
Greek families don't know how to love... Hello, hello, dear readers! It's been quite some time since I last felt like sharing. So here's what I want to write about today: being myself. As you know, I am Greek. Greek families are known for being strong, supportive, loving etc, but do you know what the truth is? Greek families are suffocating. It is not really love, what they offer their members, it is authoriatarianism, a form of dictatorship, whereby their strongest members (usually the older male ones) set rules that cannot be broken - not without consequences. Let me further explain. Say, my parents, love me very very much. They are here for me, whatever I need. Do I have a problem at work? I call them up, they advise me and give me comfort, so that I feel loved and that I have a sanctuary, should I, let's say, get fired or something. If I get into a fight with somebody, if another driver honks and swears at me, I can ring them up, they will say I am right ...

Gone girl

I had known about the film for quite some time, but wasn't really planning on seeing it any time soon. Then one night it just dawned on me to rent it and see it and... well I feel glad that I did!! I don't know, whether you have heard other people talk about this film before; if you have, I'm guessing that most of them had something in common! They were enthused, surprised, almost breathless and promised two and half hours of an irresistible uproar, an inner turbulence that movies rarely cause. What really strikes me as unprecedented is that I don't know how I should exactly describe the feelings that were generated in me while and after watching the film: it's not that it was a hilarious comedy, a heart-breaking drama, a nerve-racking thriller or that it got across a very powerful political or social message. It was just strong, very strong, formidable, turbulent, tumultuous, unexpected, shocking even. It wasn't lyrical, it wasn't poetic, it was ra...

Guys, don't be shy, share your thoughts!! I am a really good listener!!!

Zumba... baby zumba! My zumba experience!

You can find a thousand and one articles about the facts and figures of zumba but you won't know anything about it until you try it yourselves. I am now going to speak to you as a sensible, average western-world citizen about my own experience, so feel free and identify yourselves with me without thinking I might be telling you extraordinary fiction-stories like "anyone can look like Giselle" or "skydiving is a peace of cake". To put it more simply, I love eating and I've always been dead-bored of the mere idea of a gym. No, I haven't ever been fat (sorry guys), because I am quite an egoist and can't stand not being at least dignified in all fields; I had  only just reached chubby in the sense of regional chubbiness and had, however, a huge potential of doubling myself every couple of years, if I continued to scoff carbs and lipids with this tempo. And then zumba came into my life and I was surprised to find out that it really is possible ...

Have you ever heard of Lemnos?

It's an island in the Aegean sea, are you familiar with it? Funnily enough, this question is not only meant for foreigners but for Greeks as well. It turns out nobody knows enough about Lemnos, except for those who come from this island or have had to spend some time there at some point in their lives (that would mostly be people who work in the army, doctors and teachers). For the newcomer, Lemnos sounds like a bore; a bare, yellow island with a lot of steep rocks and dark-skinned people who talk little and smile enigmatically. There's a rumor that the islanders more or less insidiously sabotage their own land against tourists and new inhabitants. I could find one very good reason for that: Lemnos is too good to be shared with others. If I were to describe its form, I would say that it strongly reminds me of Dartmoor. A formidable sight of raw, rough, rugged beauty and a series of hidden natural-treasures that surprise the unwitting visitor. A harbour that is the bigg...
